Shane Martin Lyons



Shane Martin Lyons was born on June 2, 1994 and is the son of Michael and Amanda Lyons. He has seven siblings: Conor, Carol, Niamh, Niall, Mikey, Eoin and Aoife. 
His awards and achievements include All-State Honorable Mention for Speech & Drama Choral Reading, All-District Honorable Mention for being defensive back and wide receiver in football, being Senior Captain in football, as well as attaining A and B Honor Roll.
Shane’s favorite activity is to fish.
His extracurricular activities include football (4), track (2), basketball (1) and Speech & Drama (1).
His best memories while attending MHS come from when a mouse waddled into Mr. Swenson’s class with a huge dust ball wrapped around it. 
Shane’s funniest moment was being a Backstreet Boy for the school play. 
His biggest inspiration is his dad, because he showed Shane how working hard has good outcomes.
Shane’s gift to the underclassmen goes to Kane Barker: “Stay cool.”
His favorite quote is, “You really can learn from your mistakes.”
Shane’s plans for the future are to attend Des Moines Area Community College for two years before moving onto Dental School at University of Iowa. 
He is excited for graduation so he can see what college is really like.

Matthew Louis Armstrong



Matthew Louis Armstrong was born on March 7, 1994 and is the son of Angie and David Armstrong. He has three siblings, Jennifer, Sam and Ted. 
His favorite activities include ping-pong and hanging out with friends. 
Matt’s extracurricular activities include football (4), basketball (4), Speech & Drama (3) and track (1).
His best memories while attending MHS come from being involved in extracurricular activities. 
Matt’s biggest inspiration is his friends. 
His gift to the underclassmen goes to Luke Goodman, “Embrace your nickname.”
Matt’s plans for the future are to attend Des Moines Area Community College for two years before transferring to University of Iowa to be a math teacher. 
He is excited for graduation so he can start living on his own and pursue his goals in life.

Stephen John Vavroch



Stephen John Vavroch was born on September 23, 1993 and is the son of Mark and Julie Vavroch. He has one brother, Matthew.
His favorite activity is hanging out with Matt and Shane. 
Stephen’s extracurricular activities include football (4), basketball (4), track (4), FFA (4), Speech & Drama (4) as well as baseball (3).
His gift to a friend goes to another senior, Brady Losure: “Opportunity dances with those who are already on the dance floor.” 
Stephen’s plans for the future are to attend the University of Iowa for Pre-Pharmacy.
He is not ready to graduate because he will miss his good buddies at Montezuma.

Cheyenne Rea Vogt



Cheyenne Rea Vogt was born on March 24, 1993 and is the daughter of Kelli Sue Vogt. She has two brothers, Josh and Travis Vogt.
Cheyenne’s favorite activities include skate boarding, horseback riding, drawing, fishing and camping. 
Her extracurricular activities include softball (2), archery (1) and basketball (1).
Cheyenne’s best memories while attending MHS come from making Andrea laugh in the hallway and all of the conversations at lunch. 
Her most embarrassing moment was when she was de-pantsed in the hallway.
Cheyenne’s biggest inspirations are Dahvie Vanity and Andy Beirsack.
Her gift to the underclassmen is, “Do not procrastinate with your homework.”
Cheyenne’s favorite quote is, “Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.”
Her plans for the future are to attend Indian Hills or go to school for cosmetology.
Cheyenne is excited for graduation because she ready for a new chapter in her life.

Rachel May Ranfeld



Rachel May Ranfeld was born on August 18, 1993 and is the daughter of Mary and Randy Ranfeld. She has two sisters, Dianna Bryan, Alicia Hasley and nephew Ethan Hasley.
Rachel’s award and achievements include having a poem published in an anthology while she was a freshman, State Speech & Drama during freshman year, as well as 3rd place in an Iowa newspaper competition. 
Her favorite activities are hanging out with friends, reading and writing. 
Rachel’s  extracurricular activities include yearbook (4), Speech & Drama (3), journalism (2) and National Honor Society (1).
Her best memories while attending MHS were from studying at the University of Iowa with Natalie Kirton during the Iowa Summer Journalism Camps and sitting at Frau’s back table everyday with her two best friends Natalie Kirton and Charlee Arp in junior high. 
Her biggest inspiration is her daughter. 
Rachel’s gift to the underclassmen is, “Don’t procrastinate and don’t hesitate to do what you desire.”
Rachel is excited for graduation because she is ready to get on with her life, not held back by the constraints of high school.

Connor Michael Johnston


Connor Michael Johnston was born on September 4, 1993 and is the son of Mike and Brenda Johnston. He has one sister, Colleen Johnston.
Connor’s awards and achievements include A Honor Roll, three-time State wrestling place winner as well as 3rd Team  All-State for football.
His favorite activities include hanging out with friends, hunting and fishing. 
Connor’s extracurricular activities include wrestling (4), football (4), baseball (2), Speech & Drama (2) and track (1).
His best memories while attending MHS come from working on his college class with Matt and Mr. Bates at 11:59 p.m. trying to finish the class he waited until the last week to start. 
Connor’s funniest moment was watching Dayton freak out when his car was stolen during homecoming. 
His biggest inspiration is Brant Vermeer, for always taking extra time to talk to Connor about football and everything else in life. 
Connor’s gift to the underclassmen goes to Macy Taylor, “Don’t let senioritis get the best of you next year.”
His favorite quote is by Michael Jordan: “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. 
Connor’s plans for the future are to go to college for six years and become an engineer, move to a small town in Iowa, get married, have kids and get old. 
Connor is excited for graduation because he can move onto the next chapter of his life.

Katelin Ann Shepard



Katelin Ann Shepard was born on October 9, 1993 and is the daughter of Becky and Frank Gillum and Carl and Amy Shepard. She has six siblings: Hollis Anderson; Reece Shepard; Brittney, Franklin, Hailey and Chance Gillum. 
Katelin’s achievements include attaining the A Honor Roll in high school.
Her favorite hobbies are driving and hanging out with friends. 
Katelin’s extracurricular activities include FCCLA (2).
Her best memories while attending MHS come from General Math with Dayton Pringle. 
Katelin’s biggest inspirations come from Becky, Amy and Kelly, the three strongest women she knows, for always being there and understanding. 
Her gift to the underclassmen goes to Vanessa Minner and Macy Taylor, “Stay amazing!”
Katelin’s favorite quote is, “Hey, Red Head! Are you taking our order?”
Her plans for the future are to attend Kirkwood Community College for human services. 
Katelin is excited for graduation because she is ready to start a new adventure at a new place with new people.
